So far MESLIS WebApp was only available with an english user interface. Some customers asked us whether it is possible to have MESLIS WebApp in their national language for a better user experience. The current release now provides the first version of a multilingual user interface. It comes in English and German. The user can now decide which one to choose. But it also provides the opportunity for an easy and fast translation of the user interface into any other language. This enables us to provide MESLIS WebApp in any language the customers requires it.
Millions of data records on events, locations and organizers are already available in MESLIS and more data is coming in from daily crawling and processing. This huge amount of data requires a continuous improvement of the user experience. The user must be able to work in MESLIS WebApp as efficient as possible. Therefore we frequently speak with our customers to learn what ideas for improvement they derive from their daily work with MESLIS. The current release ships some of those improvements.
The total number of digital sources for data crawling with MESLIS increases continuously. In some cases this provides data from different event advertisements all refering to one single event. The advantage for our customers is, MESLIS enriches the data that is missing in one source but available in another source. In the end the system merges the advertisements to one master data set which has a much higher quality as all the single event advertisements. With the current release we extended the merging feature to also merge all PDF Screenshots from all single event advertisements to one master PDF document. See below a list of some additional features which we just shipped with the new MESLIS release.
Crawling, extracting, processing and providing data on Livestream Events or Online Events becomes more and more important to our customers and their licensing business. Specifically during the COVID-19 Pandemic while all the restrictions and lockdowns are in place online events are the only opportunity for most artists to perform their music at all. So this kind of live performances is currently developing quite fast. Existing plattforms continuously increase the number of events and quite a few new plattforms emerge worldwide. With the current release of MESLIS we added more digital source for crawling and extracting all required data on those Livestream Events worldwide. Please find a short list of new features, functions and fixes we shipped today.
We started MESLIS WebApp in 2018 with a Search Events feature as main use case for our clients. It very soon became clear that different customers have different starting points and apply different workflows for their licensing business. Some customers asked us whether it is possible to also have a Search Location feature in addition to the existing Search Events feature. So we implemented this in MESLIS WebApp in 2020. Others prefer to start searching for organizers and once they have identified relevant organizers receive all events and locations for these organizers in a second step. Today we shipped our brand new feature “Organizer Search” in MESLIS. Please find some details about our current release.
The global event and music industrie suffers very much from COVID-19 Pandemic because of many restrictions and lockdowns. Almost no concerts, festivals or other public and life performances are taking place many locations are even temporarily closed. This leads to a significant decrease of revenue from licensing for our customers – Collective Management Organisations (CMO). There is one segment which develops quite rapidly during the Corona crisis: Online and Livestream Events. Our clients asked us whether it is possible to provide data on these events in MESLIS as well for their licensing business. We adjusted and implemented all required features within just a couple of weeks to satisfy this need as soon as possible for our clients. Today we shipped a new MESLIS release providing the new Livestream Events features and some other improvments, see below.
Using MESLIS Leaflets becomes more and more popular among MESLIS Users. This feature supports licensing and research professionals and their teams to collaborate when searching, selecting and processing relevant data on events, locations, organisers and artists. We recently introduced the new oppotunity in MESLIS to create and use up to 50 leaflets per user. Many users where happy about this extension. But they also required the opportunity to change the name of an existing leaflet or provide a new tag to such a leaflet. This feature and some more (read below) are now shipped with our new MESLIS release.
MESLIS uses different sources like Social Networks, Websites, Event Calenders, ePaper, etc. for data crawling on events, locations, organizers and artists. The number of sources MESLIS crawles increases continuously. Every new source holds the risk of crawling data on events and other entities that already exist in MESLIS. Our customers are only interested to receive one (not many) data record for a particular event or a specific location. But they are also interested to get fully qualified data records with as much data as possible. With the new MESLIS Release we now introduce a new automatic merging workflow. This workflow automatically identifies and merges all events describing one and the same event to one merged event. The workflow also automatically enriches data that is missing on a particular event coming from one source but is available for this event from another source. Please find some more exciting new MESLIS features.
MESLIS is based on Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML). The implemented technologies and algorithms enable an automatic assessmend of certain characteristics of the entities (events, locations, organizers, artists) in MESLIS. As a result, these assessmends provide scores, tags, classifications and rankings for every single data record. Licensing and research professionals among MESLIS users apply these classifications to efficiently find the right data records they are searching for. Our aspiration is to continuously improve and extend these AI / ML features in MESLIS for our customers. Today we released a brand new Meta-Feature-Relevance Classifier for MESLIS. MESLIS leaflets are quite similar to watch lists, shelfs, baskets or even shopping cards when online shopping. Licensing and research professionals from our customers use leaflets in MESLIS to put selected events on, watch those events, share them with colleagues and finaly export them for their licensing business. Leaflets is a very important feature in MESLIS for an efficient licensing workflow. The new MESLIS release provides some extended features for leaflets, e.g. choose target leaflet for exports or extend total number of personal leaflets up to 50. Here is a short list of new features coming out with the new MESLIS release.
GEMA recently acquired deecoob GmbH, Dresden – a web crawling service provider for collecting societies. Web crawling events is an important tool for music collecting societies all over the world, enabling them to identify events where music is played in public. Nowadays, public events are ususally announced and advertised digitally. For collecting societies such as GEMA, web crawling events is a key technology in order to be able to ensure comprehensive market coverage for their rightsholders in their future licensing activities. The crawling technology uses text recognition to identify and record event notifications and matches such notifications to existing reportings by licensees. In this way, unlicensed usage of music is identified and comprehensive market coverage ensured, thus securing revenues for GEMA members.
Our development team has shipped a new release for MESLIS WebApp and MESLIS Backend. In this new version of our global cloud service we introduce Event Organizers as a new and independent entity. Content extraction and data crawling provide important value to our customers. The most important implementation and new features are highlighted in this summary.
Many of our customers sell volume licenses to their customers. These licenses cover a certain amount of music events per year at the particular location. Some licenses cover all type of music events some differ between licensed number of DJ events and licensed number of live music events and sometimes even a third number of background / mechanical music event. Collecting societies now use MESLIS to search and identify those locations which are under licensed. This is a very potential starting point for selling additional licenses. Find a brief description how easy this search works in MESLIS.
