Matthias Friedrich, responsible for Operations, Business Development and Customer Solutions at deecoob GmbH, will step down from his position as Managing Director at the end of September 2024 to pursue new opportunities outside the company.
Claudia Manicke has resigned from her position as Managing Director at deecoob GmbH with effect from 31 August 2024. In future, she will focus fully on the operational service business. In doing so, deecoob is setting an important course for the future.

Die Dresdner Firma deecoob, seit 2021 eine Tochterfirma der GEMA, übernimmt für die britischen Verwertungsgesellschaften PPL und PRS das sogenannte Veranstaltungscrawling in Großbritannien. Dadurch können PPL und PRS nicht gemeldete Events im Internet identifizieren.
GEMA recently acquired deecoob GmbH, Dresden – a web crawling service provider for collecting societies. Web crawling events is an important tool for music collecting societies all over the world, enabling them to identify events where music is played in public. Nowadays, public events are ususally announced and advertised digitally. For collecting societies such as GEMA, web crawling events is a key technology in order to be able to ensure comprehensive market coverage for their rightsholders in their future licensing activities. The crawling technology uses text recognition to identify and record event notifications and matches such notifications to existing reportings by licensees. In this way, unlicensed usage of music is identified and comprehensive market coverage ensured, thus securing revenues for GEMA members.
In June 2019 we presented our research results at OUTPUT.DD and the 50 Years of university computer science education in Dresden celebration. OUTPUT.DD is the project presentation of the Faculty of Computer Science of the Technische Universität Dresden where research results are presented to the general public once a year.
Together with our partner we are currently working on the research project “RECAM”. This is a cooperation project between deecoob Technology GmbH and the Forensic Sience Investigation Lab at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany. The abbreviation “RECAM” stands for retrospektive event monitoring for computer forensic enlightenment of copyright misuse on the basis of publicly available digital media. Our university partner has recently published a paper for the SEMAPRO 2018 conference: The Twelfth International Conference on Advances in Semantic Processing. The paper highlights some important results from the research project.
The VANDA team seized the opportunity to present the current research of the project at the 20th installation of the Round Table of Visual Engineering (Runder Tisch der Technischen Visualistik). The event was entitled “Learning in a Sea of Data” and was opened by Prof. Rainer Groh, who looked back on the 19 prior events.
Last Thursday, we presented our current research results at OUTPUT.DD in the Faculty of Computer Science – Technische Universität Dresden. Interested visitors could test our glyphboard demonstrator and solve analysis tasks with different glyph visualizations.
