MESLIS Cloud Migration – KickOff Event on 21st June 2023 in Dresden marked an exhilarating day for our company and our product: We invited all IT and Business Development teams from deecoob and our partners to have a joint workshop. Around 40 people met for this one day deep dive event at the ImpactHub Dresden. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn about the latest trends and best practices in cloud migration, on cloud technologies and to network with deecoob and our partners Google, IT4IPM and Cloudpilots. The event served as a platform for collaboration, learning, and inspiration.
This Tuesday was finally the day – this year’s REWE Team Challenge was on the agenda and deecoob was of course there again! Together with thousends of other runners, 9 of our deecoob employees fought for their best time in the run through Dresden’s city center.

The second MESLIS Campus Event took place from 25th to 26th April 2023 in Stockholm. Five international Collective Management Organisations (CMO) were thrilled to have had the opportunity again to convene at this two-day event in the stunning Swedish capital! We tackled a range of important topics ranging from the upcoming MESLIS development, Data Acquisition Strategy to the respective MESLIS workflow and best practise of each CMO.
A successful start to the year 2023 for deecoob: Swiss collecting society SUISA becomes a new international customer of deecoob. For the first time, both MESLIS – deecoob’s event crawling technology and in addition deecoob’s licensing service MNS (Music Notification Service) will be provided together for an international customer.

deecoob GmbH is taking over the event crawling in Great Britain for the British collecting societies PPL and PRS. With its cloud-based service and data platform MESLIS, deecoob operates the world’s leading crawler for finding events on the Internet. Collecting societies can use this technology to identify unreported events and better enforce the copyrights of their members.
Seit Mai 2020 ist der Dresdner Webcrawling-Dienstleister deecoob Teil der GEMA Familie. Mit seiner Suchmaschine MESLIS durchsucht das 40-köpfige Unternehmen das Internet nach Veranstaltungen, bei denen Musik genutzt wird. Es verhilft so Urheberinnen und Urhebern zu mehr Erträgen und der GEMA zu einer größeren Marktdurchdringung. Obwohl Geschäftsführer Matthias Friedrich alle Hände voll zu tun hat, stand er uns für ein kurzes Interview zur Verfügung.
GEMA recently acquired deecoob GmbH, Dresden – a web crawling service provider for collecting societies. Web crawling events is an important tool for music collecting societies all over the world, enabling them to identify events where music is played in public. Nowadays, public events are ususally announced and advertised digitally. For collecting societies such as GEMA, web crawling events is a key technology in order to be able to ensure comprehensive market coverage for their rightsholders in their future licensing activities. The crawling technology uses text recognition to identify and record event notifications and matches such notifications to existing reportings by licensees. In this way, unlicensed usage of music is identified and comprehensive market coverage ensured, thus securing revenues for GEMA members.
In June 2019 we presented our research results at OUTPUT.DD and the 50 Years of university computer science education in Dresden celebration. OUTPUT.DD is the project presentation of the Faculty of Computer Science of the Technische Universität Dresden where research results are presented to the general public once a year.
Together with our partner we are currently working on the research project “RECAM”. This is a cooperation project between deecoob Technology GmbH and the Forensic Sience Investigation Lab at the University of Applied Sciences Mittweida, Germany. The abbreviation “RECAM” stands for retrospektive event monitoring for computer forensic enlightenment of copyright misuse on the basis of publicly available digital media. Our university partner has recently published a paper for the SEMAPRO 2018 conference: The Twelfth International Conference on Advances in Semantic Processing. The paper highlights some important results from the research project.
The VANDA team seized the opportunity to present the current research of the project at the 20th installation of the Round Table of Visual Engineering (Runder Tisch der Technischen Visualistik). The event was entitled “Learning in a Sea of Data” and was opened by Prof. Rainer Groh, who looked back on the 19 prior events.
Last Thursday, we presented our current research results at OUTPUT.DD in the Faculty of Computer Science – Technische Universität Dresden. Interested visitors could test our glyphboard demonstrator and solve analysis tasks with different glyph visualizations.
